Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegener-ative disorder and affects 60-80% of all dementia cases in the elderly population worldwide.Getting lost is one of the earliest cognitive symptoms to emerge in AD patients.Despite decades-long efforts to identify the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of β-amyloid(Aβ) plaques and tau neurofibrillary tangles,no effective therapeutic interventions have been developed for AD so far [1].The early onset of amnestic deterioration occurs first in the entorhinal cortex and spreads later to the hippocampus, making the hippocampal-entorhinal loop the most vulnerable region. Thus, the hippocampal-entorhinal network has been a primary focus of AD study.
