Plants also have to follow their diet to be healthy.In addition to light,water,and CO2,they need mineral nutrients which have to be actively uptaken from the soil where their availability is often lim-ited [1].However,under natural conditions,plants are not alone in doing this feat,since they are strongly helped by soil microbes.While a small group of plants is benefited by bacteria which fix atmospheric nitrogen,more than 70% of land plants improve phos-phorus nutrition thanks to a still enigmatic group of soil fungi,the so-called arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi.
