Global cement production has increased 30 times since 1950 and nearly 4 times since 1990,becoming the third-largest source of anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions after fossil fuels and land-use changes [1].But the cement industry is under scru-tiny.In order to achieve the Paris Agreement's targets and reach net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050,it needs to cut its emissions from the current 2.2 to ~1.5 gigatonnes of CO2 per year within the next decades (Fig.1a) [2].
