The name of Kunming, reputedly China's City of Spring, immediately brings to mind a city of tlowers, colortul ethnic clothing and antiquated traditional buildings. First time visitors will be disappointed though:with its lack of obvious city planning and the dominance of drab concrete buildings, this capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province appears little different from other Chinese cities. Even the airport, which by Chinese city standards is extremely close to the city center (7km), has its advantage more than offset by the regular traffic jams.
