In December 2005, Lenovo Group,China's biggest computer maker, successfully nabbed Bill Amelio from Dell. Before Amelio took the new job of president and CEO, he had served as Dell's Asia-Pacific operations president.This departure was only the beginning of a trend of Lenovo poaching senior executives from Dell, the world's largest maker of personal computers and one of Lenovo's biggest competitors.
