摘要

This book is published as the 64th Memoir of the Geological Society of India. The memoirs of this Society cover broad topics in local geology of India-from the problems and perspectives of the Indian environment to the late Quaternary geology of India and sea-level changes. This memoir focuses on the great tsunami caused by the Mw9.3 Sumatra earthquake of 26th December,2004, and contains the preliminary results of the scientific investigations carried out by various departments and agencies in the aftermath of the great earthquake and associated tsunami.
