Insider trading has a long and venerated his-tory on the Chinese stock market. Back in ,the 1990s. the stock market was so plagued by retail investors scouting for so-called "insider tips"- often scams that led to massive losses for the investors-that authorities were forced to close down a slew of unethical trust firms and brokerages, crushing investor confidence and leading to an almost four-year bear market.
