The future prospects of the library profession

摘要

The development of librarian professionalization has been very slow for a long time though it never stopped at anytime.This paper intends to present a more concrete outlook on future librarianship.After reviewing 100 related articles,we came up with our viewpoint about the hbrary profession.We conclude that the social responsibihty of librarianship is to establish an explicit relationship between implicit knowledge and uncertain readers by carefully analyzing the characteristics of the library profession which indicate that our professional images are improving.We have clear hbrary codes of ethics and mature professional spirits.In the future,library profession will have a higher social status,and librarians will step toward the five new-type knowledge professions,such as Communicative Knowledge Broker,Community Resident’s Knowledge Officer,Erudite and Smart Knowledge Consultant,Knowledge Connoisseur,and Learning Counselor.
