<正>AFTER a four-month vacancy the Beijing residence of the U.S. ambassador to China received its new occupants on August 13 when Gary Locke arrived in Beijing with his wife and three kids. Dressed casually and carrying a backpack, the eagerly awaited diplomat strolled out of the airport with his family as if he had just arrived back from vacation. The scene was electrified by a barrage of flash photography, and the images quickly spread throughout the worldwide media.
