As a result of a fruitful discussion in the field of Sumeriology, new readings for many Sumerian words have been proposed in recent years. One of such words is sig2 "wool",whose new reading, siki, has been generally accepted in books and monographs. But I can not understand, why siki should be also read instead of sig2 in neo-Sumerian texts. In my humble opinion, the correct reading of this word should be sig2,at least as for texts from that period is concerned. We are going to argue for this reading, following the discussion of a proper name,Nin-lu2-ni-nu-si-ge,as attested in neo-Sumerian texts.
