摘要

Based on Thornburg and Panther's theory of speech act metonymy,the paper analyzes the speech act in Wilde's fairy tale——'The Star Child'.It proposes any component in the action scenario can stand for the whole scenario,and it helps save energy both for encoding and decoding during communication,and understand the coherence in a discourse.
