This paper designs and compares the Service-orientation Index of some OECD countries and BRICS.It analyzes the industrial structure based on InputOutput tables,especially the characteristics and effects of the service industry,and measures the degree of service orientation of manufacturing enterprises.The results indicate that China 's level of service orientation is low,employment absorption capacity of the service industry has failed to play an important role,and consumption of services is insufficient.Material inputs are significant,while service input is relatively small.Economic growth is mainly driven by production,while the consumption rate is low.Production and opera,on mainly depend on the development of the manufacturing industry.The service industry has little impact and does little to pull the economy forward.Demand for the service industry is insufficient,and its development relies mainly on its own enhancement.The degree of service-orientation of manufacturing enterprises is low.
