摘要

John Donne is particularly famous for his mastery of the metaphysical conceit.And among the diverse metaphorical conceits Donne`s use of the alchemical imagery is significant.This paper is to analyze the alchemical imagery in Donne`s poems and how Donne employs it for his poetic purpose through textual analyses.And this paper aims to give a panoramic view of the alchemical motif in Donne`s poems.
