China is the world's most populous country with a fast-growing economy that has led it to be the largest energy consumer and producer in the world.Energy demand in China has accelerated dramatically over the past few decades in line with the country's rapid industrialization,making it one of the biggest manufacturing centers in the world.In turn,this has enabled it to also claim the dubious position as the world's the largest producer of carbon emissions,and therefore polluter,as its consumption rises for oil,coal and gas.Within a matter of years,China will overtake the United States to become the world's largest economy.Its powerhouse status means the world economy relies on its health because China imports and exports a vast amount of goods.
