Core indicators of China's natural gas industry in 2016 In 2016,China produced 132.82 bcm of natural gas and 1.61bcm of coal-to-gas,production amounts that were 1.5％ and 15.8％ higher than those of the previous year,respectively.The imported gas volume was 38.34 bcm through pipeline (up 9.0％ from the previous year) and 33.74 bcm via LNG facilities (up 30.6％ from the previous year).About 3.32 bcm of gas was sent to Hongkong and Macao,an amount 2.5％ higher than that of the previous year.Because some underground gas storage facilities were put into operation and as a result of LNG inventory variations,the country had an apparent natural gas consumption of 199.34 bcm,12.84 bcm or 6.9％ higher than that of 2015.Also,in 2016,China had a 34％ of dependence on foreign-trade natural gas (Table 1).
