Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) are regarded as one of the most promising candidates as building blocks in the next generation electronics.The most advanced opportunities demand the ability to form perfectly aligned,horizontal arrays of SWNTs with a uniform structure.However,synthesizing them by conventional chemical vapor deposition (CVD) methods would result in poorly-aligned nanotubes with a variety of chiral species,then will bring a considerable cost in time and money to separate out and align the specific ones for practical applications.Despite of much great effort in designing catalysts [1],cloning with well-designed seeds [2] and optimizing the growth conditions [3],the direct growth of horizontal SWNT arrays with controlled chirality and high density has not yet been achieved.
