Organocatalysis,defined as the use of small organic molecules for catalyzing chemical transformations,can be traced back more than a century and has become a thriving area over the past 20 years [1].Recently,it has offered a number of opportunities in polymer synthesis,wherein the organic molecules can promote the polymerization reactions as catalysts or initiators,which arises the conceptualization of "organocatalytic polymerization" early in the 21st century.Since 2005,approximately 1,400 papers related to the keywords of "organocatalytic polymerization" and "metal-free polymerization" have appeared in the Web of Science (Figure 1),demonstrating the ever-increasing interests on organocatalysis in macromolecular synthesis.
