摘要

Chamdo City is situated toward the east of the Tibet Autonomous Region,in the part that seems like a neck sticking out between China's Sichuan,Qinghai,and Yunnan Provinces.This is where the twomain highways can be found connecting Sichuan and Yunnan to the region.It was also a crucial juncture of the ancient Tea-Horse Road.The average altitude of Chamdo hovers around 3,500 meters above sea level and is very well known for its abundance of zigzagging and intersecting ravines and gullies,barren lands,and a climate that at best can make human ha bitation difficult.This is why poverty has plagued the people of this place for generations,and even though efforts have been rather admirable in their gravity,helping locals has by far been no easy task due to the amount of money that had and has to be poured into related projects,the depth of poverty the people found themselves in,and the major hurdles that had to be traversed.
