The Chinese National Hol-iday, or "golden week" as it is popularly known, is the annual holiday period beginning October 1, where the country commemorates the formal founding of the People's Republic of China. This week is usually when Chinese citizens travel abroad to see family or visit friends, and is generally a busy time for the travel and tourism industries in the country.
