摘要

On May 28, 2020, after years of debate and discussion, China passed its first-ever comprehensive civil code, the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China. The Civil Code will go into effect on January 1, 2021 and thereafter will regulate the majority of the civil affairs in mainland China. The voluminous legislative work consists of 1,260 articles arranged in 84 chapters and seven parts.
