摘要

In the context that the protection and research of natural and cultural heritage has attracted growing attention from the international scientific community, especially under the active promotion of former President Lu Yongxiang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR) established the Center for Natural and Cultural Heritage Research (CNACH) in June 2006. CNACH is intended to be developed into a "platform" for natural and cultural heritage research, connect theoretical research with national needs, and demonstrate heritage protection research. Academician Li Wenhua, a renowned ecologist, serves as director. CNACH has established a research team with senior and intermediate titles, and at the same time has maintained a co-operative partnership with many well-known universities and government institutions at home and abroad, thereby gradually forming a development pattern of "small center with a large network".
