Sepsis is a pathological process caused by the infection of pathogens such as bacteri-a,viruses,parasites,etc.,which can affect all organs of the body and then cause uncontrolled in-flammatory reactions.Autophagy is a highly conserved self-degradation process in eukaryotic cells, and it is also one of the ways of programmed cell death. However, the changes in autophagy and its effects on the body vary depending on the cause and the stage of the disease. This article reviews the mechanism of autophagy in sepsis,as well as its role in lung injury, liver injury, and acute pancreati-tis.Therefore,in-depth exploration of the role of autophagy is expected to provide ideas and signifi-cance for the development of new predictive indicators and targets.
