1. Introduction The Lin Cang area lies in the southwest of Yunnan Province. Because of the high mountains and deep valleys, cultural, transportational and economic activities lag far behind those of many other areas in Yunnan Province, as well as the rest of China. With the development of a socialist market economy, the consequences of neglecting English learning among the students have become more serious than before.
