【正】 Mongol nationality nowhas a population of4,806,849 people,mainly living in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Someothers live in the north-east and northwest parts of China. Mongol nationality started its devel-opment in Eerguna River basin. In the13th century, Genghis Khan led his Mon-gol tribe unified all the tribes in Mongoliaarea, and established the Yuan Dynasty.Mongol nationality has a long history andmany legendary stories. In the past thou-sands of years, Mongol people lived anomadic life "migrating towards waterand grass". In most grassland areas ofChina, there have been foot tracks ofMongol herdsmen. They are honored as"favored sons of the grassland".
