Since our country has joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) and entered the global economy, the universal language of English has recently become more and more important in Chinese society. A new passion for English has emerged in society. Every area of work is in need of people who are able to speak good English. and our society's request for students to be proficient in English is now greater than ever.To be good at English, reading comprehension alone is not enough. Students should be good in every area, especially in spoken and written English. They should be able to talk directly with foreigners and many companies regard spoken and written English as important qualities when seeking employees. All of these changing needs raise the requirements for English teaching.This paper tries to analyze the pressures of teaching English in vocational colleges in China today.
