摘要

In late 2006, a 12-episode TV documentary on modern world history entitled The Rise of the Great Powers aired on CCTV-2, and an eight-volume series of the same title was concurrently published. The documentary was from the perspective of events in China within the framework of world history. This novel approach fueled a recent renewal of interest in history among Chinese people.
