摘要

Since language is a carrier of culture, euphemism is both a linguistic phenomenon and a cultural phenomenon. As an indispensable part of language, it truly reflects people’s life and value through history. People in different countries adopt different attitudes towards the same taboo. This paper attempts to analyze the cultural connotations of English and Chinese euphemism and try to help people understand the communicative functions of euphemism.
