摘要

Taking the answer of Foreign Ministry Spokesman as material,the essay intends to study the metafunctions in diplomatic discourse from the perspective of Systematic-Functional Grammar. According to the study of transitivity,mood,modality and thematic progression patterns in the material,it is found that the metafunctions are achieved in diplomatic discourse appropriately,and help to strengthen the preciseness, reliability and systematicness of spokesman’s words.
