British novelist Margaret Drabble’s The Waterfall can be interpreted as a female Bildungsroman. This essay attempts to explore how the protagonist’s identity problem is finally resolved through the analysis of the characteristics and elements of female Bildungsroman as reflected in TheWaterfall.
