摘要

Stuart Hall is a leading figure in the development of contemporary cultural studies.In his celebrated"Cultural Identity and Diaspora",he mainly discusses the relationship between cultural identity and representation.According to him,there are two kinds of identity,identity as being and identity as becoming.Hall sees the formation of identity as a process of temporary positioning and reposition.He then borrows the metaphor of presence to illustrate the idea of"traces"in our identity.
