It's never good to start your day on the wrong end of a doctor' s finger, especially when your GP then informs you that you have an enlarged prostate gland. As a 30 year old oncologist with obstructive urinary symptoms, I had relegated prostatic hypertrophy far down my list of differential diagnoses. A quick referral to urology, and a barrage of tubes, needles, and CT and MRI scans unfortunately disproved my GP's trusty finger. Instead, I had a large pelvic sarcoma.
