<正>Rape is the major source of cooking oil in western Hunan,and also an important cash crop.It should be harvested in midsummer,and delay may cause the mature pods to split and scatter the seeds onto the ground,thereby reducing the yield.Harvesting rape is also called"beating rape,"and the process goes something like this:Cut the stalks of mature plants,then air and dry them thoroughly.If the pods split when hit,then they are ready for threshing.
