摘要

The work of Muhe and Mouret in the late 1980s, pavedthe way for mainstream laparoscopic procedures andit rapidly became the mainstream method for manyintra-abdominal procedures. Natural orifice transluminalsurgery （NOTES） and Laparo-endoscopic single-sitesurgery （LESS） are very exciting new modalities inthe field of minimally invasive surgery which work forfurther reducing the scars of standard laparoscopyand towards scarless surgery. However, according toobjective assessment of the literatures, there is noclearly demonstrated benefit of NOTES （LESS）, evencosmesis is poorly supported and had mixed resultsin the available data. NOTES （LESS） is far from thetruly scarless surgery. Towards the Holy Grail, we havedeveloped several techniques of creating nonvisible scarand named them as ＂Scar-hidden Endoscopic Surgery＂.With the rapid development of science and technology,we believe that minimally invasive surgery over the next2 decades will continue to bring remarkable change andrealize truly scarless surgery even we may not be ableto imagine what lies ahead.
