摘要

Invisibility is crucial to construct identity in Ralph Ellison’s novel Invisible Man.Being invisible like a formless phantom and having only the voice echoing is a way of pushing the human existence to its ultimate state.Without the distraction of the body,the human identity could stand out like a candle in the darkness.The process of breaking out of the body is significant to the modern man,because modernity causes a sense of identity loss in them.
